Cover Songs by Classic Rock Artists: Singers, Musicians, and Songwriters
After the advent of rock'n'roll music in the 1950s and its refinement in the 1960s with the influences of folk rock, motown, and the British Invasion, the seventies ushered in an era of "classic rock." What is classic rock? Essentially, classic rock bands were composed of all the basics: electric guitar, bass, and drums. Any instruments added after that were purely extra, based on the songwriter and/or composer's preferences. Some examples of additional instrumentation on this classic rock music include keyboards and organs. Classic rock is usually driven by a catchy beat, nuanced with electric guitar solos, and topped off with a chorus that will most likely get stuck in your head. The songwriting wasn't always award-winning or even great, but the new music and songs that were produced at the time became instant classics. Bands like Bachman-Turner Overdrive, the Marshall Tucker Band, and others made their names by performing arena rock-worthy tunes that sounded best when turned up loud on the stereo. Classic rock really began with Sixties bands like Creedence Clearwater Revival and Buffalo Springfield, but only grew bigger and more popular as the new music of the 1970s was released.

As can be imagined, there are many cover bands that play classic rock songs.
