Motown records were the source of countless hits throughout the 1960s, highlighting such new music acts as the Temptations and Diana Ross. Motown served as a hub of activity for hot new acts, and these acts relied on talented young songwriters who knew how to write a song that would hit the top of the charts. Although the Temptations never wrote their own original new music, for instance, they were tremendous singers and live performers and had connections to some of the best and brightest young songwriters available.
